The Trust was established in 2007 to enable the provision of a high quality, interconnected network of trails in and around Fiordland for recreational activity. The Trust aims to create a buzzing outdoor recreation scene around Te Anau & Manapouri.
Ride, walk or run alongside the South Island’s largest lake, with incredible views across to the Murchison Mountains as you make your way from the Te Anau boat harbour to Patience Bay Beach. From here follow the new section of trail for 2km all the way to Patience Bay Beach, where there is a ‘Trail End’ sign. From here, turn back and ride back to town, or cross the highway and make your way back through the network of town trails.
Enjoy spectacular scenery in the heart of Fiordland, with lake, riverside and mountain views, native bush, wetlands and farmland scenery. All of this and more from a wide, well-maintained, gravelled trail suitable for all ages and abilities.
Fiordland Trails Trust relies on donations, sponsorship and funding to maintain our current network of trails and create more. There are lots of ways to get involved, from volunteer to sponsor opportunities.
