Get into gear with the GWD 2km Kids’ Fun Run!

GWD Motor Group and the Fiordland Trails Trust are encouraging youngsters to get into top gear and speed into a brand new 2km fun run event, on Saturday 3rd August.

The GWD Kids’ 2km fun run is a brand new event that will run alongside the annual Meridian Hydro Half Marathon and Mitre 10 Te Anau 10km events. Specifically for those aged 12 and under, the event includes an out and back course and all participants will get a sausage and a finishers medal when they cross the finish line.

GWD Motor Group have been long-time supporters of the Fiordland Trails Trust, even sponsoring a Rav 4 for the team to use for their Jobs for Nature project, so when they were approached about sponsoring this new event it was a fairly simple call for GWD Group Marketing Manager Hamish Tonkin and the team.

“We’re big believers in supporting the community and are looking forward to being part of such a great event,” Hamish said.

“We have a lot of clients from the Te Anau area so this is part of the way we like to give back to those who support us.”

It’ll be a team effort from GWD, with a few staff lining up in the half marathon and 10km events, and others manning the finish line BBQ.

The involvement also tied in nicely with Toyota’s Let’s Go Places campaign and their support of bringing communities together.

Fiordland Trails Trust Manager Clare Ngakai says support from businesses such as GWD is hugely appreciated by the Trust.

“We’re so thankful to GWD for all of their ongoing support of the Trust and the work that we do, and it is fantastic to now have them involved with our annual event, which is an important fundraiser for the Trust,” she said.

“The GWD Kids’ Fun Run will really add to what is already a great atmosphere at the Meridian Hydro Half Marathon and the Mitre 10 Te Anau 10km – it’s going to be a great weekend!”
